The students of St Andrews Uni have always proven to be a well drilled, fit side whom Kinross have struggled to get the better off and this match was no exception.
Andrew Stewart, a new addition to the Kinross 1st XV opened his account with a try 35 minutes in. A probing kick through from stand-off Grant Fraser was well collected and grounded over the line. Additional 2 points added by said G Fraser
Half time - Kinross 7 - 24 St Andrews Uni
The half-time talk by coach O'Reilly seemed to buoy the spirts and the boys from the KGV came out fighting. Some superb displays of aggression in both defence and attack say the homesters pulling the game back.
A well worked line out 10 metres out from the visitors line saw Lamont take a clean ball which was recycled and after a couple of forward phases saw Keith Tolson add the second try on the hour mark again converted by G Fraser.
Finally a run from stand-off G Fraser split the defence freeing him to run in from 30 metres out and cross the white wash before converting his own try with 10 minutes to go.
A moment of indecision by Megginson resulted in what can only be described as a '15 man brawl' to quote another match report. Nor did I see who hit who, but someone who reportedly went to a pretty good school not far from St Andrews was getting laid into by someone who has a Masters of Engineering degree and clearly went to school and university!
