Yesterday, the 1XV welcomed Hillfoots to the KGV for their first cup match of the season. After last weekend’s win, the boys were looking to keep the scoreboard ticking.

Hillfoots struck first with a converted try, quickly answered by a try from Iain Loach (sponsored by Bruce Short Solicitors). However, Hillfoots began to pull away, adding another two converted tries and an unconverted try. A penalty kick extended their lead, sending them into halftime comfortably ahead (5–29).

We aimed to strike first in the second half, but Hillfoots scored an unconverted try within the first 10 minutes. The boys then put in an excellent shift, with some solid defensive work keeping Hillfoots out for the remainder of the match. Conner Love (available for sponsorship) went over for our next score, converted by Lewis Macpherson (available for sponsorship). Taking advantage of an overlap after a Hillfoots card, Jacob Mellis (available for sponsorship) crossed the line twice in the final five minutes, with one conversion added by Stuart Hunter (available for sponsorship).

Final Score: 24–34
MOTM: Jacob Mellis

We now have a bye week before welcoming Perthshire to the KGV.
