Over 75 girls aged 10 to 14 descended on Kinross for a day of rugby!

This past Sunday, the 12th of November was a busy day at Kinross RFC.

We were very pleased to be hosting one of the Caledonia Midlands Girls Evolution Events, which have been held at different clubs across Caledonia Midlands since the start of the season. These events offer girls in the U14 age group games within a 'league' structure and those in the U12 age group time to train with other girls their age and short spouts of game time.

Clubs can send as many or as few players as they have and teams are mixed to allow everyone to get game time - even if there are not enough girls in their age group to make a team.

As it was Remembrance Sunday, the day started with a 2 minute silence at 11 am.

Kinross were very proud to see Bonnie, one of our U12s, getting stuck in playing with the other U12s from all over the area.

Gameplay was strong from all the U14s with some great tackle technique and some incredible steps. Sophie from Perthshire Rugby received a well-earned Player of the Day award as decided by our SRU organising team as well as the Coaches who refereed the matches.

Thanks to the SRU (Jess and crew) and all the clubs who travelled to play; Perthshire, Strathmore, Montrose, Aberfeldy, Falkirk, Dundee, Grangemouth, Stirling County, Kirkcaldy, Bannockburn, Glenrothes and Alloa.

Also thanks to our main club sponsors Fife Mitisbushi and to Greggs (Kinross Moto) for their incredible donation of 100 sausage rolls - the girls were very grateful!

We hope to take some U14/U12 players away to the next event - the 29th of November at Bannockburn.
